AUGUSTA, Ga. | Georgia College & State University wrapped up the Peach Belt Conference regular season with 5-2 women's tennis victory over Augusta University Sunday (April 19) afternoon at the Newman Tennis Center.
The Bobcats improved to 11-10 overall and to 3-4 in the Peach Belt, while the Jaguars fell to 7-10 and 1-6. Both teams advance to the PBC Tournament Friday (April 24) hosted by Columbus State University at the John C. Walden Tennis Center in Columbus, Georgia. The Bobcats earned the No. 5 seed and will face No. 4 seed Middle Georgia State University at 9 a.m. in the quarterfinals.
GCSU swept the three doubles matches to earn the doubles point before taking four of the six singles matches to close out the victory.
The Bobcats got three-set wins from
Rachel Black (3-6, 6-4, 6-2) at No. 1 and
Natalie Kirka (4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (11)) at No. 3.
Victoria Conde Vendrell at No. 2 and
Laura Almagro at No. 4 recorded straight-set wins in their matches.
