ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. | Georgia College & State University opened play at the Triton and Lion Invitational Friday (Sept. 11) with a pair of losses.
The Bobcats fell to tournament host Eckerd College 25-17, 25-17, 25-19 in the opening match before dropping a four-set decision to Henderson State University 25-21, 25-22, 25-16 and 25-20.
GCSU came out strong against Henderson State, taking the opening set 25-21 while hitting .357 with 18 kills and just three errors.
Avery Huyck led the Bobcats with 14 kills, while
Reece Wright added 10 and
Emersyn Mullvain had nine.
Sadie Parkerson distributed 22 assists, followed by
Lexi Baum with 17.
Molly Fitzpatrick recorded season highs with five kills and three service aces.
Milla Smith posted a team-high 23 digs, while Huyck collected 13 and Parkerson added 10.
Sierra Piland led GCSU at the net with three blocks.
Against Eckerd, Baum led the team with 12 assists and 12 digs, while Parkerson added nine assists. GCSU fell to 1-9 on the season.
