MORROW, Ga. | The Georgia College & State University women's soccer team scored twice in the final 100 seconds of their Peach Belt Conference match against Clayton State University to pull out a 3-2 victory Saturday (Sept. 12) afternoon at Laker Field.

The Bobcats improved to 2-2-0 overall and to 1-0-0 in the league, while the Lakers slipped to 2-2-1 and 0-1-0. GCSU, which is 13-7-5 all-time in PBC openers, returns home to the Bobcat Soccer Field Wednesday (Sept. 16) for a 7 p.m. non-conference match against Anderson (S.C.) University.

After Clayton State scored goals right before and right after halftime to open up a 2-0 lead, the Bobcats got a goal back as Madelyn Heckathorn scored off a corner kick from the left side from Jenni Järventaus at the 50:10 mark.

GCSU changed its formation to push forward in the second half to make its comeback. The Bobcats, who outshot the Lakers 15-8 in the game and 9-4 in the second half, tied the match at two with 1:42 remaining as Kaisa Fagerström scored - her first of the season -  at the near post off Mia Palumbo's corner kick from the right side.

The Bobcats didn't take their foot of the pedal as they scored 49 seconds later to take a 3-2 lead. Kat Wilber took a through ball down the center from Heckathorn and beat the goalie to her left for the match winner.

GCSU held a 10-4 margin in shots on goal and a 7-2 advantage on corner kicks. Kassidy Fortin had two saves in net for the Bobcats.
