This Week in Bobcat Sports (Sept. 7-13)

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | The men's and women's cross country, women's soccer and women's volleyball teams at Georgia College & State University are in action this week as the fall season rachets up.

Women's soccer (1-1-0) is the lone team at home this week. GCSU hosts the University of Montevallo in a 7 p.m. midweek non-conference match Wednesday (Sept. 9) at the Bobcat Soccer Field. The Falcons are a familiar foe for the Bobcats as Montevallo were members of the Peach Belt Conference through the 2016-17 season. The all-time series with the Falcons is tied at 6-6-2. The last meeting between the two sides came in 2018 with the Bobcats recorded a 1-0 decision at home. GCSU hits the road for the first time Saturday (Sept. 12) with a 1 p.m. contest in Morrow, Georgia. The match will serve as the PBC opener for each team. The Bobcats hold a 13-8-4 edge in the all-time series with the Lakers. GCSU defeated Clayton State 4-0 last year in Milledgeville.

Women's volleyball (1-7) will be taking part in their third tournament in as many weekends as they travel to Florida to compete in the Triton and Lion Invitational co-hosted by Eckerd College and Saint Leo University. GCSU will face Eckerd (10 a.m.) and Henderson State University (2:30 p.m.) Friday (Sept. 11) in St. Petersburg, Florida, before taking on Franklin Pierce University (10 a.m.) and Saint Leo (2:30 p.m.) Saturday (Sept. 12) in Saint Leo, Florida. Eckerd leads the all-time series with the Bobcats 1-0, while this weekend will serve as the first meeting against the other schools.

The cross country teams will be in action at the Queens City Invitational Friday (Sept. 11) evening in Charlotte, North Carolina. The meet will feature several of the top regionally ranked teams in Division II. The women's 5K race at the McAlpine Creek Park will start at 6 p.m., followed by the 8K men's race at 6:45 p.m.
