MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The women's tennis team at
Georgia College & State University (1-2, 1-1 PBC) fell short
today (Feb. 15) dropping all nine games to the fifth best team in
the nation, Columbus State University (4-0, 2-0 PBC).
In women's doubles all three teams from Columbus State came out
victorious. In the number one slot, the Bobcats' Gabby Acuna (Peachtree
City, Ga.) and Marjorie Ceppo (Sao
Paulo, Brazil) lost 8-1 to the Cougars' Eva Petschnig and
Hanane Toumi.

Lion fought a close match against Roxana Dondera and
Gabriela Vasilescu but fell short losing 8-6. The pair of
Adriana
Acuna (Peachtree City, Ga.) and Angy Cuellar (Bogota,
Colombia) were overpowered by Daniela Castillo and Lindsey
Groenewald 8-0.
At number one singles, No. 48 Ceppo took on No. 5 Petschnig and
lost 6-3, 6-1. At the number two slot, Danna from the Bobcats was
defeated by Dondera 6-1, 6-3.
Lion was overpowered by Toumi of Columbus State 6-1, 6-3.
Cuellar was outmatched against Castillo 6-0, 6-1.
The Acuna sisters were both defeated as well with Gabby losing
to Vasilescu 6-3, 6-0 in the fourth slot and Adriana falling to
Erin Reynolds 6-1, 6-1 at sixth singles.
The Bobcat netters are back in action Wednesday, Feb. 18 to host
Newberry College with matches beginning at 2 p.m.
