#30 Bobcat Women's Tennis Blanked by #5 Cougars, 9-0

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 30 Georgia College & State University women's tennis team (8-8, 4-5 PBC) fell 9-0 Saturday against No. 5 Columbus State University (15-4, 9-1 PBC).

In doubles action, Columbus State's No. 11-ranked pair of Loriane Favoretto and Hanane Toumi defeated Diane Danna (Paris) and Bertille Lion (Lyon, France) 8-3, while Gabriela Vasilescu and Sofia Persson repeated that score against Bobcat freshmen Kayla Barksdale (Martinez, Ga.) and Michelle Lingner (Dunwoody, Ga.) in the No. 2 position.

Slotted third, CSU's Tacy Castillo and Lucy Bird shut out Linda Mosa (Stockholm, Sweden) and newcomer Caroline Seabolt in her first action.

At first singles, Danna lost 6-7, 6-1 and 10-3 to the No. 22 ranked Favoretto, while Barksdale stumbled 6-0, 6-1 to Castillo. In third singles, Toumi outlasted Lion 6-2, 2-6 and 10-8 as the Bobcat fell to a team-best 11-4 on the season.

Persson overpowered Lingner 6-1, 6-4, while Mosa dropped a 6-3, 6-2 pair to Vasilescu in the fifth spot. At sixth singles, Redrado blanked Seabolt 6-0, 6-0, giving the Cougars the 9-0 victory.

The Bobcats are back in action Tuesday, April 6, hosting No. 12 Clayton State University at 2 p.m.
