#26 Bobcat Women Cage Brenau, 5-4

GAINESVILLE, Ga. – The No. 26 Georgia College women's tennis team (13-7) got back on the winning track by edging out the Brenau University Golden Tigers (5-6) Thursday afternoon, 5-4.

The Bobcats quickly found themselves with a slight edge after doubles, 2-1. Kayla Barksdale (Augusta, Ga.) and Bertille Lion (Lyon, France) played out of the No. 1 spot but dropped GC's only doubles match to Lyn See Choo and Hannah Thompson, 8-6. May Johnson (Sydney, Australia) and Michelle Lingner (Dunwoody, Ga.) got the Bobcats started off on the right foot by defeating Liubov Orlova and Kate Mazackova, 9-7. Johnson and Lingner share the school lead in wins and stand at 11-4.

Lisa Setyon (Paris, France) and Kelly Edwards (Roswell, Ga.) played out of the three spot for the 'Cats and downed Eline Nagels and Stephanie Moniz, 8-2. The GC third doubles pair is 10-6.

The Bobcats would split Brenau in singles action. Lion fell to Choo in her first singles match in three matches, 6-4, 6-1. Johnson would topple Mazackova in the second slot, 6-0, 6-3 to improve to 12-8. Barksdale and Lochner would both drop their matches. Barksdale lost in a three-set marathon to Thompson, 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 and Lochner fell to Orlova, 6-1, 6-1.

Setyon played in the No. 5 spot and downed Nagels, 6-3, 6-2. The win improves her record to a team best 15-3. Lingner clinched the win for the Bobcats, defeating Martirosyan in straight sets out of the six spot, 7-5, 6-1. The GC sophomore is now 9-5 on the season.

The women and men will travel to Anderson University tomorrow, April 8 for a 2 p.m. start.
