SAVANNAH, Ga. The No. 26 Georgia College women's tennis team's (16-9) season came to a halt at the hands of No. 10 Flagler College (12-6) in round one action of the NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament Monday afternoon at the Bacon Park Tennis Facility, 5-3.

The Bobcats fell behind the Saints after doubles, 2-1. Out of the No. 1 spot, Kayla Barksdale (Augusta, Ga.) and Bertille Lion (Lyon, France) got the first win of the day in the second finish, toppling Rachel Gould and Lauren Pfeiffer, 8-4. Georgia College's No. 1 doubles squad finished the season 15-7.

May Johnson (Sydney, Australia) and Michelle Lingner (Dunwoody, Ga.) dropped their decision to Veronica Figueroa and Jennifer Saviano, 8-6. Lisa Setyon (Paris, France) and Kelly Edwards (Roswell, Ga.) played out of the No. 3 spot falling to Deon Miller and Gabby Scammacca, 8-3.

Lingner finished the first match in the singles section out of the sixth spot, evening the score for GC by shutting out Scammacca. Lingner improved her record to 13-5. Kim Lochner (Neu-Isenburg, Germany) fell next in the four slot to Miller, 6-2, 6-2. In third singles, Barksdale then dropped her match to Saviano, 6-1, 6-4.

Setyon got the score back to 4-3 by downing Gould, 6-3, 6-2 in fifth singles, the freshman owns the team lead in victories with 18. Unfortunately it would not be enough as Lion dropped the clinching match to Pfeiffer in a hard-fought, 6-4, 7-5 bout.

This brings an end to the GC women's tennis season, after finishing 16-9 and fifth in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC). The season saw the Bobcats improve during the year to a No. 26 ranking. Lion earned a pair of All-PBC honors, both in singles and in doubles with Barksdale.
