#18 Women's Tennis Drops Just Five Games En Route to 9-0 Win over Concord

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 18 Georgia College women's tennis team (5-6) took on the Concord University Mountain Lions (2-14) Wednesday afternoon, the Bobcats losing only five games over the entire nine matches, a 9-0 victory.

Senior Kayla Barksdale (Augusta, Ga.) and freshman Katie Krupp (Evans, Ga.) gave up just one game against the top duo from Concord, Laura Leon and Hannah Faegre, finishing with the 8-1 victory.

Ivana Marevic (Rottweil, Germany) and May Johnson (Sydney, Australia) played in the No. 2 double slot and blanked Kirby Mustard and Hannah Grow with an 8-0 score.

Michelle Lingner (Dunwoody, Ga.) and Sarah Murray (Alpharetta, Ga.) matched Barksdale and Krupp by winning the No. 3 doubles match against Cristina Knable and Linsday Hamilton 8-1.

The Bobcats continued their dominance in singles play as Marevic defeated Leon 6-0, 6-0 and Johnson took down Mustard 6-0, 6-0.

Barksdale played in the No. 3 slot and won her fifth-straight match, taking down Faegre 6-1, 6-0.

Krupp won her seventh match of the season with the 6-1, 6-0 victory over Growe, while Lingner finished 6-1, 6-0 with the win against Knable.

Murray blanked Hamilton with the 6-0, 6-0 victory. The win was Murray's first collegiate singles victory.

GC women's tennis will be back in action Thursday, March 14 at 3:30 p.m. when they travel to take on their second Mountain Lion opponent in as many days in Young Harris College.
