Box Score PEMBROKE, N.C. – Junior guard Kayla Upchurch (Alpharetta, Georgia) exploded for 21 points, leading Georgia College women's basketball (5-4, 1-1 PBC) to its first Peach Belt Conference (PBC) win of the season 64-46 Saturday at UNC Pembroke (1-8, 0-3 PBC).
Upchurch knocked down 5-of-6 from long range in her personal-best effort, 8-of-12 overall.
Seniors Shanteona Keys (Roswell, Georgia) and Enisha Donley (Loganville, Georgia) joined Upchurch in double-figure scoring with 16 and 12 points, respectively. Donley ripped down a team-best seven boards, while Keys had five rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Keys has scored in double-digits for all nine games this season. Stretching back to last year, the senior now has a 15-game streak.
Point guard LaRice Walker (Franklin, Georgia) shook off the rust of a two-game layoff, tallying a career- and game-high nine assists to go with six boards and five points.
The Bobcats' stingy defense held UNCP to just 28 percent (19-68) shooting, while Georgia College torched the nets at 27-of-52 (.519) from the field.
Kierra Haney led the Braves with a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double and Jazmine Kemp chipped in 10 points.
The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Jan. 3 at 1:30 p.m., travelling to the University of North Georgia.
