#26 Bobcat Women's Tennis Win Streak Ends at Four

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 26 Bobcat women's tennis team (4-1, 4-1 PBC) dropped its first contest of the season the No. 1 ranked Armstrong University (8-0, 3-0 PBC), 9-0 halting their win streak at four.

Georgia College sent Camille Clausse-Pujo (Bordeaux, France) and Kristen Jones (Marietta) out in the number one slot for doubles. The duo were paired up against Clara Perez and Lena Lutzeier, who took the set 8-3. Armstrong continued their strong day in the doubles as they took the No. 2 against Jena Kelly (Lawrenceville) and Katie Krupp (Evans), 8-2.  The Bobcats fell short in the third contest of the afternoon as Macy Polk (Powder Springs) was paired with her teammate Emma Niemi (Cumming), falling 8-2.

Leading off in the singles match for the Bobcats was Clausee-Pujo against No. 3 Perez for the Pirates. The junior managed to take four games from the Pirate, but dropped the set 6-2 in straight sets. In the number two slot for singles had Jones battling Lutzeier. Kristen managed to take a couple games, but ultimately fell 6-1, 6-2.  The third singles matchup had Georgia College's Jones taking on Carolina Prats-Millan. Jones fought hard in the contest, but fell 6-2, 6-0. 

Niemi took the number four slot for the Bobcats and took on Alejandra Cisneros of Armstrong, losing in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. The other battle in the singles lineup was at No. 5 for Georgia College, Cristalei Polk (Powder Springs). Polk was matched against Diana Stomleja, and took five games, but fell 6-3, 6-2.  Rounding out the singles field for Georgia College was Hannah Serdinia (Suwanee) who took three games from Nicole Fossa Huergo before losing, 6-1, 6-2.

The Georgia College women's tennis team will get a chance to start a new winning streak tomorrow, March 1, as they host No. 47 Wingate at noon.
