DADE CITY, Fla. – The No. 26 Georgia College golf team shaved off a massive 25 strokes from its round one effort Tuesday at the NCAA South/Southeast SuperRegional, but the Bobcats still stand 19th at plus-53 on the par-72, 7,098-yard Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club.
Georgia College shot a 327 Monday, followed up with today's 302, the largest improvement in the entire 20-team field. Georgia College is positioned 19th, nine strokes behind No. 23 North Greenville University in 18th.
Senior Ryan Trocchio (Norcross, Georgia) fired and even-par effort of 72 today, and climbed 31 spots to 51st place in the 108-golfer field at eight over for two rounds.
A pair of freshman in Thomas Hodges (Monroe, Georgia) and Matheus Balestrin (Porto Alegre, Brazil) are tied for second on the squad at plus-15 in 90th place. Balestrin had rounds of 80 and 79, while Hodges carded an 81 and 78.
Sophomore Harry Lambert (Suwanee) is 15-over par, shooting a 74 today, 12 strokes better than yesterday's score. Junior David Sullivan (Woodstock, Georgia) is at plus-20 following rounds of 86 and 78.
No. 3 Lynn University is 14-under in the lead, eight strokes ahead of second place and the only other team under par in No. 1 Nova Southeastern University.
Lynn's No. 3 Mateo Gomez and Nova's No. 1 Santiago Gomez own the individual lead at three-under.
The Bobcats play the final round tomorrow, May 6. Sullivan will lead the Bobcats to the course on hole No. 1 at 7:30 a.m., playing with golfers from North Greenville and Benedict College.
