SAVANNAH, Ga. – The No. 21 Georgia College Women's Tennis team (4-4, 2-2 PBC) took on Defending National Champion No. 1 Armstrong State University (6-0, 1-0 PBC) Sunday, a 9-0 road loss for the Bobcats.
The Pirates swept doubles action, jumping out to a 3-0 lead.
Senior Camille Clausse-Pujo (Bordeaux, France) and Kristen Jones (Marietta) dropped an 8-3 match in the first slot to Lena Lutzeier and Diana Stomlega. Third doubles had the same score, as Macy Polk (Powder Springs) and Hannah Serdinia (Suwanee) couldn't get past Nicole Fossa Huergo and Lena Pacholski, the first defeat for the Bobcat pair this season.
Jena Kelly (Lawrenceville) and Katie Krupp (Evans) managed one point better, an 8-4 loss to Alejandra Cisneros and Carolina PratsMillan.
Clausse-Pujo fell in first singles to Huergo by a pair of 6-1 sets, while Jones dropped a 6-1, 6-2 match to Lutzeier in the second slot.
Macy Polk lost to No. 1 Cisneros in third singles, going 6-2, 6-3. No. 13 PratsMillan surrendered just one point to Kelly in the fourth slot 6-1, 6-0.
Cristalei Polk (Powder Springs) managed the best single-set effort for Georgia College in the fifth slot, going down 6-4, 6-0 to Pacholski. Emma Niemi (Cumming) dropped her first singles match of the young season to Alice Patch by a 6-0, 6-3 in the sixth slot.
The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, March 2 at 2 p.m., playing host to Coker College.
