#19 Bobcat Women's Tennis Silences the Hurricanes with a Sweep, 9-0

AMERICUS, Ga. – No. 19 Georgia College Women's Tennis (19-5, 9-2 PBC) rolled over Georgia Southwestern State University (4-16, 0-11 PBC) Saturday morning in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) action at the Susan K. Smith Tennis Complex. The Bobcat women extended their current winning streak to six matches with a dominant 9-0 performance.

Georgia College started off on the right foot, securing a trio of victories in doubles competition.

Hannah Serdinia (Suwanee) and Emma Niemi (Cumming) secured the opening victory, surrendering just a single point in an 8-1 victory over Lauren Resnick and Jamie Thomas in the third slot. Bobcat teams in the top-two slots allowed just a pair of points each in 8-2 wins, as Katie Krupp (Evans) and Jena Kelly (Lawrenceville) defeated Celia del Castillo Torres and Sydnee Smith in the first and Macy Polk (Powder Springs) and Camille Clausse-Pujo (Bordeaux, France) cruised over Kendall Crew and Anneliese Leahy in the second.

The momentum continued into singles play, as the Bobcat women put on a dominant show with a sweep of all six slots.

Kelly was at the top of her game, blanking Crew 6-0, 6-0 in the third slot to pick up her team-leading 19th win of the season. Following was Clausse-Pujo with an impressive performance of her own, suppressing del Castillo Torres 6-1, 6-1 in the first slot to secure the match-clinching fifth point. The win bumps the Bobcats' first-slot record up to 16-7 in her senior campaign.

Macy Polk, Cristalei Polk (Powder Springs), Serdinia and Niemi each picked up commanding wins to round out the day.

In the second slot, Macy Polk fended off Smith in a close first set, 6-4, before shutting out the Hurricane 6-0 to secure the victory, while Cristalei Polk outpaced Leahy in the fourth, 6-2, 6-0. Ending the day, Serdinia picked up the eighth team point with a fifth-slot win over Resnick and Niemi overpowered Thomas 6-1, 6-0 in the sixth to secure the sweep.

With the win, the Georgia College team extends their winning streak to six and completes their seventh shutout of the season. The Bobcat women currently sit at third in the PBC standings with a 9-2 in-conference record, putting them just behind No. 4 Armstrong State University (11-0 PBC) and No. 8 Columbus State University (9-1 PBC). They will fight for the second position when they travel to take on CSU in a rescheduled contest for the final action of the regular season Sunday, April 17 at 2:30 p.m.
