Box Score AIKEN, S.C. – It was all Georgia College Soccer (3-1-1, 1-1 PBC) Wednesday night, netting four goals against PBC (Peach Belt Conference) opponent USC Aiken (2-6, 0-2 PBC) for a big 4-0 victory.
The Bobcats came out hot scoring in the first thirty seconds. It was junior Maddie Stephen (Norcross, Georgia) who struck first for the Bobcats, firing a shot from the shallow right wing into the upper left net for her first goal of the season just 25 seconds in.
The next Bobcat goal of the night came of the foot of sophomore Ragnheidur Bjarnadottir (Gardabaer, Iceland) who rebounded a shot from junior Amanda Bartholomew (Peachtree City, Georgia), Bjarnadottir recording her second goal of the season. Bartholomew was credited with the assist making that the first of her Bobcat career.
Georgia College scored two goals in the first half and did not let up for the second. The Bobcats must not have thought that a two goal lead was comfortable enough at half; just 39 seconds into the second Rahliat Animashaun (Baton Rouge, Louisiana) recorded her third goal of the season off of a short rebound.
Just a few moments later in the 48th minute, Animashaun was credited with her first assist of the season after receiving a corner and dishing out to Sol Baldassini (Miami, Florida) who ripped a shot from the deep right wing for her first goal of her senior season.
It was the Bobcat offense that received all the glory tonight, but credit is due to the tough defense that only allowed three shots on goal in front of sophomore keeper Ashlee Graham (Decatur, Georgia) who recorded the three-save shutout.
Georgia College looks to to stay on the winning side of things when they face off against Clayton State University at Bobcat field this Saturday, Sept. 24 at 3 p.m.
