Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga.- The Georgia College Women's Basketball Team (2-3) suffered a tough 53-44 loss on the road at Savannah State University (3-0) Wednesday afternoon.
The Tigers took the early lead in the first quarter and never let go. The first half ended with the Tigers outscoring the Bobcats 29-24. SSU opened up the second half strong, netting 19 points to the Bobcats six. GC was able to outscore the Tigers in the fourth quarter 14-5 but still came up short.
The Bobcats had two scorers reach double digits on the afternoon. Ashyia Willis (Gainesville) and Harper Vick (Marietta) each bucketed 10 points. Vick went 4-for-19 from field goal range and shot for 100 percent from the free-throw stripe. Willis went 3-for-12 from field goal range and 4-for-6 from the stripe.
GC was able to out-rebound the Tigers 48-43. The leading rebounder was forward Jada Warren (Norcross) with eight. Warren asserted her dominance in the paint as she also had a blocked shot. The next leading rebounder was Vick with seven with Anaya Cone (Douglasville) on her tail with six. Cone also banked a three pointer and recorded a steal.
The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Nov. 27 on the road at Auburn University at Montgomery. Tipoff is set for noon eastern with live stats and video available at GCBobcats.com.
