SAVANNAH, Ga. – Despite going one player short of a full lineup, the Georgia College Women's Tennis team (3-3) clobbered Savannah State University (1-3) 6-1 Friday afternoon on the road.
The Bobcats won the doubles point after surrendering the third slot. Kim Yatribi (Frejus, France) and Jordan Bowie (Macon) made short work of Bria Bembery and Sarah Joachim in a shutout.
In the first slot, Emilia Richter (Berlin, Germany) and Emma Fleming (Suwanee) paired for a 6-2 win over Venus Ubiebi and Caitlyn Schultz.
The Tigers evened the match with the default win in the sixth slot, but then GC ran the table, surrendering just one game along the way.
Freshman Ashton Morrison (Cumming) got things started with a shutout of Maiya Broughton in the fifth slot. Bowie then beat Joachim in a shutout in fourth singles. Clinching the team victory in the third slot was Fleming, shutting out Bembery.
Yatribi followed with a shutout in second singles over Schultz, and Richter beat Ubiebi 6-0, 6-1 in first singles.
The Bobcats are back in action tomorrow, March 13 at 10 a.m., traveling to No. 9 Flagler College.
