Box Score MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- The Georgia College Soccer team (3-2, 0-1 PBC) took a 3-1 home loss Saturday in their Peach Belt Conference (PBC) opener to No. 11 Columbus State University (5-0-1, 1-0 PBC), the Bobcats' first nationally-ranked opponent of the season.
Columbus State took the early lead scoring their first goal in the first three minutes of the match. GC tied it up in the 32nd minute on a do-it-yourself goal from freshman Aralyn Everett (Covington). Everett got the ball at midfield on the right-wing and pushed towards the goal to drive it right over the Cougar goalkeeper into the upper corner for her first career goal.
The remainder of the first half was quiet for both squads, as the teams reached halftime tied 1-1. In the 50th minute of the game, CSU struck again, knocking in their second goal of the match reclaiming the lead 2-1. The Cougars weren't done there as they knocked in the final goal of the match in the 70th minute to push it further out of reach.
Bobcat goalkeeper Kate Richardson (Marietta) made 15 saves on the day. Columbus State had 18 shots on goal, only with three finding the back of the net. The 15 stops is a career best and ranks third in school history.
