Bobcat Women's Hoops Loses Tight Game with Savannah State, 70-65

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – In a close, physical contest that kept an incredible pace for the full 40 minutes, the Georgia College & State University Women's Basketball team (8-3) lost to Savannah State University (8-2) 70-65 Monday in the Centennial Center.

The game featured 18 ties and 16 lead changes, with neither team able to gain a double-digit advantage. The Tigers closed strong, out-scoring GCSU 14-7 over the final five minutes.

Sophomore Alexa Geary (Calhoun) led all scorers with 25 points, one shy of her career high. She knocked down 4-for-9 from long-range and went 7-for-8 from the free-throw line.

Junior Myra Strickland (Duluth) had 15 points with a trio of threes, and senior Harper Vick (Marietta) added 11 to the scoring column.

The game was physical with 33 total fouls and featured a frantic pace that played a bit more into SSU's style. GCSU turned the ball over 20 times, matching its season high.

With the 11 points, Vick now has 1185 in her career, good for eighth in school history. She passed Tracy Davis (1998) in today's action.

The Bobcats are back in action Thursday, Dec. 29 at 2 p.m., taking on Auburn University at Montgomery in the Centennial Center.
