Bobcat Women's Tennis Edges Texas A&M Kingsville, 4-3

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College Women's Tennis team (5-1) ran its home mark to 4-0 this season, beating Texas A&M Kingsville (3-3) 4-3 Friday at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility.

The Bobcats took the doubles point with wins in the first and second slots.

GC started in the hole with a 6-1 loss in third doubles, when Ashton Morrison (Cumming) and Chiara Santoro (Santa Ursula, Spain) lost to Manuela Turolo and Alessa Maier.

The Bobcats then brought it even with a 6-2 win for Emilia Richter (Berlin, Germany) and Emma Fleming (Suwanee) in the first slot over Maya Donkor and Raina Zaffar. It took a hard-fought 7-5 victory in the second slot to get the team point, as Jordan Bowie (Macon) and Sofia Shing (Auckland, New Zealand) outlasted Noemi Sante and Milou Ter Morsche.

Fleming and Richter move to 4-2 on the season, while Bowie and Shing are now a team-best 5-1.

GC doubled its advantage with the initial singles finish, as Fleming beat Ter Morsche with a pair of 6-1 sets in fourth singles. TAMK got its first point in fifth singles, where Turolo topped Shradha Chhabra (New Delhi, India) 6-4, 6-0. Next came a win for Bowie in sixth singles, beating Viktoriia Grigoreva 6-2, 6-1.

Santoro clinched the team victory by taking her third singles matchup with Sante 6-3, 6-2. The team win already decided, the Javelinas took the final two singles results, as No. 44 Shing fell to Donkor 6-4, 6-3 in first singles and Richter lost to Maier 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 in second singles.

Fleming is 5-1 in singles action this year. Bowie moves to 3-2 and Santoro is now 3-3.

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Feb. 19 at 2 p.m., traveling to North Greenville University.
