TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Georgia College Women's Tennis team (6-1) moved to 6-0 against Division II competition this season with a shutout at North Greenville University (1-5) Saturday. The shutout was the third this season for the Bobcats.
GC took all three doubles matchups to get the team point. With the Crusaders unable to field more than four players, the Bobcats got a walkover win in the third slot. In second singles, Ashton Morrison (Cumming, Georgia) and Jordan Bowie (Macon, Georgia) beat Naomi Sakakibara and Marena Newsome 6-1.
Richter and Fleming move to a team-best 5-2 on the year.
After two more walkover wins in fifth and sixth singles, freshman Shradha Chhabra (New Delhi, India) provided the team victory in fourth singles. Chhabra beat Newsome via shutout to clinch the team win.
No. 44 Sofia Shing (Auckland, New Zealand) beat Berger 6-4, 7-5 in the first slot. Chiara Santoro (Santa Ursula, Spain) took down Sakakibara in a pair of 6-1 sets on the second line, and third singles brought a 7-6[1], 7-6[5] victory for Morrison over Enderink.
