FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The No. 49 Georgia College Women's Tennis team (3-0) stayed undefeated with a 7-0 shutout at Emmanuel College (0-5) Wednesday.
GC took the doubles point with wins in first and second slots. Jordan Bowie (Macon) and Emma Shing (Auckland, New Zealand) beat Shatavisa Ghosh and Soleny Gonzalez 6-3 in the second slot, then Emma Fleming (Suwanee) and Emilia Richter (Berlin, Germany) beat the top doubles team of Alejandra Guerrero and Darja Chistov 6-3 as well. With the point already decided, GC lost third doubles when Ashton Morrison (Cumming) and Chiara Santoro (Santa Ursula, Spain) teamed for a 7-5 loss to Zyana Rogel and Lauren Castillon.
Fleming got the singles sweep started in the fourth slot. She beat Ghosh in a pair of 6-2 sets. Next came Richter in second singles, beating Gonzalez 6-1, 6-4. Morrison clinched the team victory, taking down Rogel with a pair of 6-4 sets.
Santoro then beat Chistov 6-4, 6-2 in the third slot, before Shradha Chhabra (New Delhi, India) dispatched Selina Donecker 7-6[2], 6-1. National No. 44 Shing closed the day with a 7-6[3], 6-4 win over Guerrero in the first slot.
The Bobcats move to 3-0 for the first time since 2015. That year, GC started 4-0 and finished 18-7 overall.
The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Feb. 12 at 1 p.m., playing host to Erskine College.
