PEACH BELT STANDINGS

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – An upset bid came up short for Georgia College Women's Tennis (8-2, 0-1 PBC) Sunday, as No. 18 University of North Georgia (7-2, 2-0 PBC) ended the Bobcats' four-match win streak with a 5-2 loss at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility.

North Georgia got the doubles point with wins in the second and third lines. The first doubles tandem of Emma Fleming (Suwanee) and Emilia Richter (Berlin, Germany) beat Vaishali Jorge and Claudelle Labonte Frey 7-5.

Losses came from second doubles, where Ashton Morrison (Cumming) and Jordan Bowie (Mercer) lost 6-4 to Johanna Lippert and Svetlana Teterina. Chiara Santoro (Santa Ursula, Spain) and Shradha Chhabra (New Delhi, India) lost to Cibeles Zuddy and Anna Markvartova, 6-3.

UNG doubled its advantage with the first singles finish, as No. 37 Jorge and No. 44 went head-to-head in a nationally-ranked showdown. Jorge controlled things, however with a pair of 6-1 sets. Chhabra then lost to Zuddy 6-3, 6-0. Fleming got the Bobcats their first team point, topping Teterina in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2 in fourth singles.

The sixth line would provide the team victory, however as Bowie lost to Rafaella Villanueva 6-1, 6-4. In third singles, Santoro fell to Lippert 6-4, 7-6[9]. Richter closed the day on a bright note, beating Markvartova in a 1-6, 6-3, 7-5 marathon at second singles.

Fleming is now 8-1, while Richter owns a 7-2 mark.

The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, March 9 at 2 p.m., playing host to Converse College.
