AUSTIN, Texas | Georgia College & State University had six student-athletes named to the College Sports Communicators NCAA Divsion II Women's Soccer Academic All-District® Team.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.50 cumulative grade point average and must be a have either played in 90 percent or started in 66 percent of their team's matches.
Senior midfielder
Grace Phillips, who is from McDonough, Georgia, earned her name on the list with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.61 as a marketing major with a minor in management information systems. Phillips recorded an assist in 17 matches (eight starts) for the Bobcats.
Junior midfielder
Lily Markey, who is from Alpharetta, Georgia, has posted a 3.93 GPA as an exercise science major.
Lily Markey started eight of the 17 matches she played in.
Her twin sister
Chloe Markey, who is a junior defender from Alpharetta, Georgia, helped the Bobcat backfield register three shutouts during 2023, while she posted a 3.81 GPA in economics.
Chloe Markey started 13 of the 16 matches played.
Sarah Mason, a sophomore forward from Atlanta, led the Bobcats with four assists to go along with a goal for six points as she played in all 18 matches (seven starts) for Georgia College. Mason, who recorded two assists against the University of South Carolina-Aiken Oct. 7, has a 3.50 GPA as an exercise science major.
Carter Drake, who is a sophomore midfielder from Jefferson, Georgia, led GCSU with nine points as she tallied three goals and three assists in 17 matches (three starts). Two of the goals came against USC Aiken. Drake is a management major with a 4.0 GPA.
Rounding out the GCSU contingent is sophomore midfielder
Sarah King, who hails from Stockbridge, Georgia. King tallied two assists in 17 matches (10 starts) played. King maintains a 3.83 GPA as a political science major.
The Bobcats finished their 2023 season with an 8-8-2 mark.
