MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Georgia College & State University will travel to Columbus, Georgia, to face Columbus State University in the quarterfinals of the Peach Belt Conference Women's Soccer Tournament Monday (Nov. 6) at 7 p.m. at Walden Soccer Complex.
The Bobcats, who are 8-7-2 overall, are seeded seventh in the tournament, while the Cougars, who are 10-4-1, are the tournament's No. 2 seed. The GCSU-Columbus State winner will advance to Friday's (Nov. 10) semifinals against the winner of the No. 3 Flagler College (10-3-3) and No. 6 Clayton State University (7-6-3) match.
The other two quarterfinal matches will have top seed University of North Georgia (13-3-2) hosting No. 8 seed Georgia Southwestern State University (6-8-3) in Dahlonega, Georgia, while No. 4 Lander University (10-4-2) entertains No. 5 University of South Carolina-Beaufort (12-4-1)Â in Greenwood, South Carolina.
The four quarterfinal winners wil advance to the semifinals Nov. 10 and the finals No. 12 that will be hosted by the highest-remaining seed.
Tickets are $10 per person and must be purchased online in advance at https://peachbeltconference.org/sports/2020/10/14/tickets.aspx. Children ages five and under, and students with a valid ID from a PBC school are admitted free.
Columbus State won the previous meeting against the Bobcats 3-1 last month in Milledgeville. The Cougars lead the all-time series with GCSU 20-2-5, including a 0-11-2 mark in Columbus. This will be the eighth all-time meeting in the PBC Tournament between the two institutions with CSU holding a 5-1-1 advantage. GCSU defeated Columbus State 2-1 in the semifinals of the 2013 tournament, while the teams battled to a scoreless draw in the 2018 title match before CSU won 4-2 in penalty kicks. The last time a No. 7 seed advanced over a No. 2 seed happened in 2018 when GCSU and Lander University battled to a 0-0 tie before the Bobcats advanced 3-2 on PKs.
Amanda Dewey and
Mia Palumbo lead the Bobcats with four goals each, while
Carter Drake,
Morgan Amrozowicz and
Abbey Eison has three apiece.
Carter Drake and
Ellie Fuller have three assists each.
Madison Drake and
Kassidy Fortin have shared time manning the GCSU goal.
Madison Drake has a 1.58 goals-against average with 37 saves, while Fortin had posted a 1.76 GAA with 44 saves.
