Fourth quarter run leads to PBC front runner taking down Bobcats, 68-63

GREENWOOD, S.C.- Georgia College & State University Women's Basketball fell 68-63 in the final minutes in the road match-up with Lander University. 

GCSU fell two 9-7 on the season and 3-3 in the Peach Belt Conference. PBC leader, Lander, improved to 13-3 and 6-0 in the conference. Georgia College will stay on the road to take on Clayton State University Wednesday Jan. 24 at 5:30 p.m.

The Bobcat offense started the contest hot with a 21 point first quarter which lead to a 38-31 halftime lead. GCSU also led LU by as many as 12 points at one point in the contest. 

Hannah Cail and Ashyia Willis led the shooting effort with 16 and 13 points, respectively. Cail was a sharpshooter on the afternoon going 6-for-11 from field goal range and 4-for-6 from behind the three point arc. Willis iced her 13 points on five field goals and a perfect 3-for-3 performance from the free throw line. Dashaun Jackson rounded out the leading scorers for the Bobcat offense with nine points on a 100 percent field goal effort and 3-for-4 from the charity stripe day. 

Jada Warren led the rebounding effort as she corralled nine on the afternoon. Five came under the Bearcat basket with four coming under the GCSU basket for second chance points. Jackson had the second most boards on the squad with seven. She made her presence known on defense picking up six rebounds on that side of the floor.
