MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Georgia College & State University has revealed the upcoming 2024-25 men's basketball schedule.
"We are excited to have six non-conference home games in November and December, which is a nice change up from last year playing primarily on the road," said GCSU men's basketball head coach Ryan Aquino. "We will open up on the road November 8th and 9th and our first game in the Centennial Center will be against Auburn Montgomery on November 13th. We are pleased with the challenge of our non-conference schedule, which will prepare us for the Peach Belt. Our conference looks as if it will be as tough as it has been in recent memory."
The Bobcats, who were picked to finish seventh place in the preseason Peach Belt Conference Coaches poll, will open their season in Gaffney, South Carolina, Nov. 8-9. The Bobcats will face former PBC-foe Young Harris College Nov. 8 on the Limestone University campus before facing North Greenville University the next day.
Unlike last year where GCSU played its first 11 games on the road, the Bobcats open up their home schedule inside the Centennial Center when they host Auburn University at Montgomery at 7 p.m. Nov. 13. GCSU will then play games at Converse University Nov. 16 and Shorter University Nov. 20 before returning home to face Fort Valley State University Nov. 26 in a pre-Thanksgiving tuneup in Milledgeville.
The FVSU game tips off a six-game homestand for the Bobcats. They will host Southern Wesleyan University Dec. 4 before opening its Peach Belt schedule with a 3:30 p.m. contest Dec. 7 against Columbus State University. GCSU will host Albany State University (Dec. 18) and Belmont Abbey College (Dec. 21) before they break for the holidays. The Bobcats will then wrap up their homestand with their final non-conference game against Emmanuel (Ga.) University to ring out 2024 on New Year's Eve.
Three of the first four games in January will be on the road for Georgia College. The Bobcats play the University of South Carolina-Aiken (Jan. 4), Flagler College (Jan. 11) and the University of South Carolina-Beaufort (Jan. 11) on the road, while the will face the University of North Georgia, which is ranked No. 9 in the preseason National Association of Basketball Coaches Division II poll, (Jan. 8) in the Centennial Center. GCSU will host Lander University Jan. 18 and Clayton State University Jan. 22 before hitting the road for games against Georgia Southwestern State University (Jan. 25) and Augusta University (Jan. 29).
With the calendar turning toward the month of February, the Bobcats will begin the second half of the conference schedule with five games inside the Centennial Center. GCSU will host USC Aiken (Feb. 1), Flagler (Feb. 8), USC Beaufort (Feb. 12), Georgia Southwestern State (Feb. 22) and Augusta (Feb. 25). The game against the Hurricanes Feb. 22 will be homecoming for the Bobcats, while the contest against the Jaguars Feb. 25 will be Senior Day. The Bobcats will travel to North Georgia (Feb. 5), Lander (Feb. 15), and Clayton State (Feb. 19) during February.
The Bobcats conclude the regular season March 2 at Columbus State.
The Peach Belt Tournament will be held the first full week in March with the top eight teams advancing. The quarterfinals will be played March 5 with the semifinals scheduled for March 8 and the finals on March 9. Quarterfinal contests will be held at the higher seed, while the semifinals and finals will be held at the highest-remaining seed after the quarterfinals.
