FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. | Emmanuel (Ga.) University claimed four singles victories en route to a 4-3 decision over Georgia College & State University in a non-conference men's tennis match Friday (Feb. 16) afternoon.
The Lions improved to 4-0, while the Bobcats suffered their third 4-3 decision in 2024 and fell to 0-5. GCSU returns to the Centennial Center Tennis Courts Tuesday (Feb. 19) with a 2:30 p.m. match against Newberry College.
GCSU jumped out to a 1-0 lead after the doubles point.
Jorge Robinson and
Enzo Sergi took a 7-5 win at No. 3 doubles before
Rodrigo Pérez Crespo and
Noé Villen teamed up for a 7-6 (2) victory at No. 1 doubles to clinch the point.
The Lions got wins at No. 2, 4 and 6 singles to take a 3-1 lead, but the Bobcats leveled the match at 3 as Sergi at No. 5 singles (3-6, 6-4, 6-4) and
Gabe Cizek at No. 3 singles (6-2, 2-6, 7-6 (5) earned tough three-set victories. Emmanuel took the match when Murilo Gracio earned a 3-6, 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 1 singles over Robinson.
