MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | No. 1-ranked Valdosta State University defeated Georgia College & State University 7-0 in a non-conference men's tennis match Tuesday (Feb. 6) afternoon at the GCSU Tennis Complex.
The Blazers improved to 1-0, while the Bobcats fell to 0-3. GCSU will return to action Thursday (Feb. 8) when they travel to Young Harris, Georgia, for a 2 p.m. match against former Peach Belt Conference-foe Young Harris College.
Luka Sauer Jimenez and
Enzo Sergi went the distance for GCSU in singles. Sauer dropped his first set 6-4 in No. 1 singles before tallying a 6-2 win in set two, but Luca Mack earned the VSU point with a 10-4 win in a super tiebreaker. Jerome Iaconi took a 6-1 win in the first set of No. 6 singles before Sergi took a 6-2 decision in set two. Iaconi took the match with a 6-2 victory in the decisive third set.Â
