MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | No. 15 Columbus State University picked up a 5-2 Peach Belt Conference women's tennis victory over No. 43 Georgia College & State University on a breezy Friday (April 12) afternoon at the Centennial Center Tennis Courts.
The Cougars improved to 11-5 overall and to 4-0 in the Peach Belt, while the Bobcats saw their three-match winning streak snapped as they fell to 11-8 and 3-2. GCSU returns to action next Friday (April 19) when they step out of conference play for the final time in 2024 as they host Auburn University at Montgomery at 2 p.m. The Bobcats will recognize their seniors prior to the match.
Even though CSU claimed the doubles point,
Ashley Bentz and
Shradha Chhabra picked up a 6-2 decision at No. 3 doubles for the Bobcats.
Jada Young and Chhabra picked up wins for GCSU in singles. Young recorded a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 win at No. 1, while Chhabra picked up a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 5.
