MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | No. 8 Auburn University at Montgomery held off No. 46 Georgia College & State University 4-3 in a women's tennis match Friday (April 19) afternoon at the Centennial Center Tennis Courts on Senior Day.
The Warhawks improved to 16-5, while the Bobcats fell to 11-9. GCSU faces No. 3 University of North Georgia in a 1 p.m. Peach Belt Conference match Saturday (April 20) in Dahlonega, Georgia.
Prior to the match, GCSU honored its lone senior,
Ashton Morrison. Morrison teamed up with
Jada Young to win No. 1 doubles at 6-2. Morrison dropped a 3-6, 6-3, 0-6 4 result at No. 4 singles.
The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead after doubles as GCSU took 6-2 wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles. After AUM took the first two singles matches, the Bobcats tied the match at 2 as
Chiara Santoro picked up a 6-1, 6-4 decision at No. 2 singles.
GCSU took a 3-2 lead as
Shradha Chhabra won 6-2, 7-6 (5) at No. 5 singles before the Warhawks won the match by claiming the final two singles matches.
