NINETY SIX, S.C. | The Georgia College & State University men's golf team jumped four spots into a tie for 14th place at the Patriot Fall Classic hosted by Lander University Tuesday (Oct. 21) afternoon.
The Bobcats completed their suspended second round and shot 295 in the morning and shot 294 in the final round to complete the 54-hole event at 892 to finished alongside Southern Wesleyan University and Tusculum University. Wingate University shot 834 to win the tournament by 17 strokes over Lander on the par 72, 7,054-yard layout on the Patriot Golf Club at Grand Harbor.
The top GCSU golfer in the field was
Andy Scott who finished in a tie for 29th place at 218 after an even-par 72 and a one-under par 71, while
Jack Hutcheson also shot a 72 and added a 74 to finish in a tie for 52nd place at 223.
Matthew Rogers posted scorecards of 74 and 76 and tied for 64th place at 226.
Chase Blanton finished in 96th place at 233 after shooting an 80 and a 73, while
Hank Holcomb fired scores of 77 and 87 to finish in 108th at 239.
GCSU tees off its spring season Feb. 9 in St. Augustine, Florida, at the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate.
