GCSU holds off Fort Valley State 65-60 at home

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Three players scored in double figures to lead Georgia College & State University to a 65-60 victory over Fort Valley State University in a non-conference women's basketball matchup Wednesday (Dec. 31) afternoon in the Centennial Center.

The Bobcats improved to 4-8 overall while the Wildcats fell to 1-9. GCSU opens the new year Saturday (Jan. 3) evening with a PBC conference matchup against Georgia Southwestern State University at the Storm Dome in Americus, Ga. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m.

The Bobcats started the game slow but fought their way back with a big performance from senior guard Bailey Vick, who finished with a career-high 16 points. Fort Valley led for most of the game up until the fourth quarter, where the Bobcats came back with contributions from forwards Elizabeth Wynn and Natalia Bolden.

GCSU dominated the boards, out-rebounding the Wildcats 48-23. Wynn lead the rebounding surge with a team-high of 11. Nylah Nuri and Bailey Vick each added six rebounds of their own. Deshona Gaither finished the game with 14 points and Wynn followed closely behind with 13.
