GCSU sets season-best 54-hole score at Saint Leo tournament

DADE CITY, Fla. | The Georgia College & State University men's golf team finished in a tie for 13th place at the Saint Leo Invitational Tuesday (Feb. 18) afternoon.

The Bobcats shot 296 in the final round on the par 72, 7,121-yard layout at the Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club South Course to finish the 54-hole event with a score of 884, which is the season-best 54-hole mark for GCSU. The Bobcats previous best score this season was an 885 at the Hurricane Invitational last fall.

Kam McDaniel led the way for GCSU as he finished with a career-best 54-hole score of 218 - six strokes better than his previous best - to come in a tie for 31st place after even par 72 in the final round. Andy Scott fired his second consecutive under-par round in the tournament with a 71 to finish in a tie for 40th at 220, which was a new career-best 54-hole school by two strokes.

Jack Hutcheson shot 77 and finished in a tie for 58th place at 225, while Billy Goddard signed for a 76 and finished in a tie for 61st at 227. Chase Blanton rounded out the GCSU contingent at 230, good for a tie for 69th place after an 80 in the final round.

The Bobcats returns to the course March 3 when they travel to Greenwood, South Carolina, to compete in the Lander Invitational at the Greenwood Country Club.
