GAINESVILLE, Ga. | The Georgia College & State University men's golf team finished in 12th place Tuesday (Sept. 16) afternoon at the Mizuno Invitational hosted by the University of North Georgia.
The Bobcats shot a four-over par 293 on the par 72, 7,166-yard layout at the Chattahoochee Golf Club to complete the 54-hole tournament at 884. Lander University rallied past No. 2 North Georgia in the final round to claim the team title at 854, three strokes better than the NIghthawks.
Andy Scott continued his torrid start to the season with his second top-10 finish of the year. Scott shot two-over par 74 in the final round to finish in a tie for seventh place at 213. The 213 score also established a new 54-hole career best for Scott in as many weeks. Scott tied for seventh at the Savannah Lakes Fall Invitational last week with a 214 score.Â
Andrew Lutjens established new 18- and 54-hole career bests in the final round. Lutjens finished in a tie for 27th place at 218 after shooting a three-under 69 for the Bobcats best round of the day.
Matthew Rogers and
Jack Hutcheson each signed for 74s in the final round. Rogers finished in a tie for 52nd at 225, while Hutcheson finished in a tie for 71st place at 231.
Zach Wiley fired a one-over par 73 - which tied his career low round - to finish in 77th at 234.
GCSU returns to the links Monday (Sept. 22) when they travel to Albany, Georgia, to take part in the Hurricane Invitational hosted by Georgia Southwestern State University.
