ALBANY, Ga. | The Georgia College & State University men's golf team moved up three positions on the final day of the Hurricane Invitational hosted by Georgia Southwestern State University Tuesday (Sept. 23).
The Bobcats shot a four-over par 292 in the final round on the par 72, 7,024-yard layout at the Doublegate Country Club to finish the 54-hole event at 901, good for 11th place. GCSU finished ahead of No. 1-ranked University of North Georgia by four strokes. No. 7-ranked Florida Southern College won the tournament at 858, eight strokes ahead of No. 11 Columbus State University.
Andrew Lutjens was the top Bobcat in the field in a tie for 30th place at 222 after carding an one-under par score of 71 in the final round.
Zach Wiley shot a career-best three-under par 69 on the final loop across Doublegate and finished in a tie for 44th at 226.
Jacob Speece tied for 49th at 227 and
Andy Scott finished in a tie for 52nd place at 228 after both golfers signed for scorecards of 76.
Matthew Rogers tied for 66th at 233 after recording a 78 in the final round.
The Bobcats return to action Oct. 20 when they travel to Ninety Six, South Carolina, for their final tournament of the fall season when they will compete at the Patriot Fall Classic hosted by Lander University.
