MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | The Georgia College & State University women's cross country team captured the Bobcat Invitational presented by Chick-fil-A of Middle Georgia Friday (Oct. 9) evening for the program's 19th title in program history.
The Bobcats won their first meet since they captured the UNG Cross Country Invitational last year. GCSU finished with 20 points as they finished 29 points ahead of Allen University.
Allen's Diosleydis Gutierrez won the 5K meet on the Bobcat Cross Country Course, but the Bobcats next seven spots.
Maddie Reese Smith came in second place with a time of 21.21.9 and was followed by
Kaela Kearney (21.25.0),
Lily Flood (21.32.4),
Sadie Edris (22.03.0),
Paxton Kirby (22.10.6),
Izzy Hall (22.54.6), and
Kenley Adams (22.58.1).
Campbell Smith rounded out the GCSU contingent with her 10th-place time of 23.44.0. Kearney and Edris set new personal standards.
GCSU returns to action Oct. 24 when the compete at the UAH Chargers Cross Country Invitational in Huntsville, Alabama, at 8:50 a.m. Central time.
