ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. | The Georgia College & State University men's golf team wrapped up their first tournament of the spring season Tuesday (Feb. 10) when they competed at the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate hosted by Lincoln Memorial University.

The Bobcats finished in 17th place in the 54-hole event with a score of 937 after shooting their best round of the tournament (300) in the final round. No. 8 St. Mary's (Texas) University, which was one of 11 nationally ranked teams in the field, won the event with an 865 tally, 10 strokes better than No. 18 University of North Georgia.

Andrew Lutjens and Jacob Speece were the top golfers for GCSU as they tied for 53rd place at 231. Speece fired a 74 on the par 72, 7,136-yard layout at the St. Johns Golf & Country Club, while Lutjens carded a 77. Andy Scott posted a 76 in the final round an came in 81st place at 237, while Chase Blanton had the low round of the tournament for the Bobcats with a one-over par 73 and come in 88th at 241. Hunter Phillips rounded out the contingent with an 80 and tied for 96th place at 247.

The Bobcats return to the links Feb. 23 when they travel to Okatie, South Carolina, for the Oldfield Classic hosted by the University of South Carolina - Beaufort.
