OKATIE, S.C. | The Georgia College & State University men's golf team moved up the leaderboard on the final day of the Oldfield Classic hosted by the University of South Carolina-Beaufort Tuesday (Feb. 24) afternoon.
The Bobcats finished the 54-hole tournament on the par 72, 7,142-yard layout at the Oldfield Golf Club with a score of 930, good for a tie for 13th place with the University of Mount Olive. Georgia Southwestern State University won the tournament at 869, two strokes ahead of Catawba College.
GCSUÂ shaved off 19 strokes off its opening round as they shot 306 in the completion of its second round and then carded a 299 in the regularly scheduled final round.
Andrew Lutjens was the top GCSU golfer in the field as he tied for 35th place at 228 after rounds of 78 and an even-par 72.
Matthew Rogers tied for 51st at 232 after an even-par 72 in the second round an a 78, while
Jack Hutcheson finished in a tie for 63th place at 234 after post rounds of 80 and 75.
Andy Scott came in 77th place with a 240 after scorecards of 79 and 74, while
Jacob Speece finished in 82nd at 243 after firing rounds of 77 and 80.
The Bobcats return to action March 9 at the Greenwood Invitational hosted by Lander University in Greenwood, South Carolina.
