MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Georgia College & State University seniors Rodrigo Pérez Crespo and Braxton Wright look back on the friendships, lessons, and defining moments that shaped their journey on and off the court.

The GCSU men's tennis team faces Flagler College in the first round of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament at 6 p.m. Friday (April 24).

Crespo, who is a marketing major with a minor in management information systems, shares how being a part of the GCSU tennis program has impacted him.

"The tennis team is like my second family, not only on the court but also off the court," said Crespo. "Everyone on the team is part of my daily life and I am so grateful to have them in my life."

Crespo is an international student originating from Ourense, Spain and plans to pursue a master's program after graduation.

His favorite moment over the years was during the 2025 season.

"We beat North Georgia at home on senior day last season and I clinched the match," said Crespo. "They ended up going to the national championship, so that was a big win for us."

Wright, who is from Cumming, Georgia, shares who inspires him.

"One person who has really inspired me is the other senior, Rodrigo Pérez Crespo," said Wright. "He's someone who is naturally a great leader and his work ethic is contagious in many ways."

Wright is a business management major and plans to intern with Starr in wholesale underwriting in Alpharetta, Georgia.

His time at GCSU has left him prepared for the next phase in life.

"I've learned so much in my four years here and I want to thank the guys and my amazing coaches," said Wright. "I feel that I'm leaving here prepared for whatever comes next in life."

Tennis has taught Wright many lessons; one of the lessons he has learned is good sportsmanship.

"Tennis is one of the only sports where it's just you and your opponent and you make your own calls, so being a good sportsman, regardless of if you win or lose, matters," said Wright.

The Bobcat seniors thank their family, friends and coaches for helping them throughout their time at GCSU.
