MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - Georgia College &
State University's women's basketball team (12-5, 7-3 PBC) won
their fourth straight game and seventh out of last eight tonight
(Jan. 28) overpowering Peach Belt Conference (PBC) opponent
Columbus State University (11-9, 4-6 PBC) 64-52.
Tucker native Dominique
Huffin was on fire tonight for the Bobcats nailing
7-of-10 three-pointers and was the leading scorer of the night with
24 points.
Senior forward Tiauna Brantley
(Woodstock, Ga.) supported Huffin scoring 12 points.
Brantley extended her double digit scoring to 14 games in the
2008-09 campaign.
Junior transfer Shandrea Moore (Ft.
Lauderdale, Fla.) was also in double figures tonight for
the 'Cats tallying 11 points along with six assists.
Antoinette Reames
(Orlando, Fla.) made her presence known down low scoring
nine, grabbing five boards and one block. Reames ties
Dalana Watson in single season blocks with
36. Watson had 36 blocks in the 2001-02 season.
With tonight's victory the Bobcats tie the series at 20 games
apiece with the Cougars. Georgia College outscored the Cougars
21-11 in points off turnovers. The 'Cats also outshot their
opponent .526 (10-19) to .333 (5-15) from beyond the three-point
line.
The Bobcats are tied for second place in the PBC at 7-3 with
Clayton State University and USC Aiken who both won tonight. All
three teams sit behind Francis Marion University (8-1 PBC).
Georgia College continues their six-game homestead when they
face Augusta State University Saturday Jan. 31 at 2 p.m..
