COLUMBUS, Ga.- The Georgia College & State
University women's basketball team (15-7, 10-4 PBC) dropped a game
at Columbus State University tonight (Feb. 16) 72-66, giving the
Bobcats two losses in a row for the first time since Dec. 15.
Forward Antoinette Reames
(Orlando, Fla.) led the Bobcats tonight with 15 points and
13 boards for her third double-double of the season. Her first of
the season was Dec. 30 in the 63-55 win over No. 25 Wingate
University where she also carded 15 and 13. More recently, the
6-foot-1 junior posted 11 points and 11 rebounds Jan. 5 in the
78-60 victory at Clayton State University.
Tonight, Reames was 6-of-12 from the floor snagging four
defensive boards and nine offensive while claiming two assists. The
aggressive defender fouled out tonight but not before swatting down
four shots.
Sophomore Mandi Dudish
(Snellville, Ga.) also scored a team-high tonight with 15
for Georgia College nailing down five from behind the arc. Also
posting double digits for the night was senior wing Emily Bixler
(Lawrenceville, Ga.) with 11 points. Bixler also grabbed
seven boards, added two assists, had two steals and one block.
Unfortunately, Reames, Dudish and Bixler's double digits were
not enough to overcome Columbus State's three leading scorers, two
posting double-doubles. Phebe Smith led the Cougars with 20 points
and 12 rebounds while Chauntel Ferdinand scored 19 for the night.
Ashley Stafford contributed to the action with 14 points and 13
rebounds for CSU.
The Bobcats look to snap the two-game slide Wednesday, Feb. 18
at home against Georgia Southwestern beginning at 5:30 p.m. It will
be Senior Night at Georgia College, honoring Bixler, Tiauna
Brantley (Woodstock, Ga.) and Tonishia Wimbish
(Ellenwood, Ga.).
