AIKEN, S.C. - The Georgia College & State
University women's basketball team (16-10, 11-8 PBC) finished up
the regular season tonight (Feb. 28) losing at USC Aiken (20-10,
12-8 PBC) 67-58. This is the third-straight loss for the Bobcats.
Senior guard Tiauna Brantley
(Woodstock, Ga.) led the 'Cats tonight going 4-for-4
from the line with a total of 17 points. She snagged a team-high
six rebounds for the night and also had one block and a steal.
Junior point-guard Shandrea Moore (Ft.
Lauderdale, Fla.) helped by narrowly missing her second
double-double, recording 12 points, nine assists and grabbing six
boards.
The Pacers overpowered Georgia College having four players score
in double-digits. Meredith Legg led Aiken with 16 points while
Kendra Chandler was right behind her putting up 15. Triahna Harris
scored 13 points with three rebounds and two assists while Morgan
Johnson claimed 11 of the teams 67 points.
Other noteworthy Bobcats tonight included juniors Daniela
Nopuente (Day City, Calif.) and Antoinette Reames
(Orlando, Fla.) who both scored nine points in tonight's
contest. Nopuente also had three boards and one assist while Reames
led the team with six rebounds. The forward also had two steals and
three swats.
As a team, the Pacers out-rebounded the Bobcats 38-30.
Free-throws also factored into the conference contest tonight.
Aiken went 24-for-32 making frequent trips to the line while
Georgia College went just 7-for-11.
The loss ends the regular season for GCSU, putting the Bobcats
at sixth in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) standings. Georgia
College will have an immediate chance at revenge over the Pacers,
squaring off with USCA in the quarterfinal round of the PBC
Tournament in Aiken, Thursday, March 5 at 7 p.m.
