DAHLONEGA,
Ga. - It was a tough battle
Tuesday from the North Georgia Soccer Complex as Georgia College
(7-4, 4-1 PBC) allowed a late goal in the second frame allowing No.
25 North Georgia (11-1, 5-0 PBC) to edge the Bobcats 1-0. The loss
ends a five-game win streak for the Bobcats.
The game was knotted 0-0 at the half as both teams had six
shots.
In the second half, the Saints picked up the pressure, as GC
only managed three shots to North Georgia's nine. North Georgia
made good on a game-winning goal with 6:28 remaining in regulation
by the Saints' Natalie Douglass, was assisted by Casey Smith.
The Bobcat defense also held the Peach Belt Conference's
second leading goal scorer, Samantha Abrahart to zero shots.
Senior goalkeeper
Mary Rob
Plunkett (Augusta,
Ga.) added six saves tonight as
she now has 46 on the season. North Georgia's Kirsten Ross had
three saves.
Senior Ally Treat
(Fayetteville,
Ga.) and junior Karen
Bonilla (Manassas,
Va.) each had two shots for the
Bobcats.
The Bobcats are now 0-3 on the 2010 season away from Bobcat
Field, including the neutral-site game against Florida Southern
College.
Georgia College was out shot 15-9 and lost the corner-kick
battle 7-5.
GC returns to Bobcat Field Saturday, Oct. 16 at 6 p.m. against
Flager College for "Senior Day" the final home game of the regular
season.
