MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The No. 17 Georgia College
& State University men's basketball team (21-4, 14-2 PBC) beat
the University of Montevallo (20-6, 10-6 PBC) 73-65 on Senior Night
Wednesday at the Centennial Center.
The Bobcats got four scorers in double-figures, led by seniors
Graham
Martin (Marietta, Ga.) and Ty Rowland (Lilburn,
Ga.) at 16 points each. Martin coupled his scoring with
seven rebounds, while Rowland added five assists, four rebounds and
three steals.
Sophomore forward Ryan Aquino (Roswell,
Ga.) had a solid line of 12 points, eight boards and four
assists. Senior guard Jake Rios (Bozeman,
Mt.) fired in 11 points.
The Bobcats hit 50 percent (17-34) of their shots in the second
half, including 42 percent (5-12) from long range. The 'Cats
also hit 90 percent from the free-throw line (18-20), as compared
to Montevallo's 67 percent (8-12) effort.
Georgia College needed four double-digit scorers to combat the
22-point effort by Freddy Little, hitting five threes. He was
helped by 11 from Tauras Dortch and 10 each from Gerald January and
Jordan Hutchison.
Prior to the contest, Georgia College athletics said thank you
to the five seniors on this year's squad, Rios, Martin, Rowland,
Robert
Thomas (Mankato, Minn.) and Jordan Poole (Warner
Robins, Ga.).
The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Feb. 27 at 3:30 p.m.,
traveling to North Georgia for the final game of the regular
season.
