MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - First place in the Peach
Belt Conference (PBC) West Division was on the line today as the
women's basketball team at Georgia College & State University
(15-6, 8-3 PBC) took on the No. 15 Clayton State University Lakers
(18-3, 9-2 PBC). Clayton State doubled Georgia College's efforts
winning 70-35 and took over first place in the division.
The Bobcats struggled to hit shots the entire contest, making
10-of-62 (.161) from the floor, including 3-of-16 (.188) from
three-point territory, which is usually Georgia College's strong
suit, averaging .322 per game.
Junior guard Dominique Huffin
(Tucker, Ga.) led Georgia College with 11 points, hitting
5-of-6 free-throws and collecting five rebounds. Classmate
Jessica
Baker (Snellville, Ga.) had seven points, going 4-of-5
from the charity stripe.
Georgia College was outmatched 50-10 in the paint and 23-4 in
points off turnovers.
Two Lakers scored in double-digits, as Latonda Bruce led all
scorers with 19 points and teammate Teshymia Tillman aided with 17
points.
