MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – On a wet, soggy Bobcat Field in the rain, the Georgia College soccer team (5-3, 2-0 PBC) bested the Bearcats of Lander University (5-5, 0-4 PBC) 2-1 Wednesday night. The Bobcats have won three-straight contests, including two shutouts and two conference wins.

Lander's Christin Moss scored the first goal of the night giving the Bearcats an early 1-0 advantage inside 19 minutes of the first half. Moss scored on a pass from Rachel Datz as Mary Rob Plunkett (Augusta, Ga.) came out to defend, leaving the open net.

Georgia College retaliated early in the second frame, scoring within the first two minutes. Freshman Katie Taylor (Sharpsburg, Ga.) connected to classmate Brittaney Borror (Evans, Ga.) for Borror's second goal of the season. Borror was about 25 yards out in front of the center of the goal as she received the cross pass from Taylor.

The assist gives Taylor two on the 2010 campaign as she still leads the team in points with 10. Borror is closing in with eight points, including her two goals and four assists. Georgia College is 4-0 on the season when Taylor records a point.

Just under nine minutes into the second half, Kayla Emerson (Fayetteville, Ga.) found the net for her first goal in her senior season. Emerson scored on a breakaway as she caught the pass from Borror from 35 yards out, firing it past a diving keeper.

The Bobcat defense stepped up in the second half, especially the last 12 minutes of play as Lander kept the ball on Georgia College's side of the field.

It was truly a cat fight on the field as the Bearcats edged the Bobcats 18-17 in shots and it was knotted at four on the corner kicks.

Plunkett recorded three saves, bringing her season total to 31. The senior goalkeeper has a 1.11 GAA and an .816 save percentage.

The Bobcats have a week off before battling No. 9 Armstrong Atlantic Wednesday, Oct. 6 at 6:30 p.m. at Bobcat Field.
