COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Georgia College women's basketball team (2-9, 0-2 PBC) lost their second straight Peach Belt Conference (PBC) bout to the Columbus State University Cougars (7-5, 2-1 PBC) Wednesday night, 57-46.

The Bobcats played a fierce first half hanging with the Cougars until the 5:20 mark when Columbus State went on a 6-0 run to extend their lead to double-digits for the first time, 25-15. GC answered with a little run of their own pulling within seven at halftime, 29-22.

The second half was all Cougars as they stretched their lead to as large as 19 points. The Bobcats closed the gap with a 10-3 run to end the game but it was too little too late as the Cougar lead was insurmountable.

Shanteona Keys (Roswell, Ga.) led the scoring for the Bobcats with a game-high 16 points on 5-of-10 (.500) shooting and 5-of-7 (.714) from the charity stripe. She also grabbed three boards and had two blocks.

Freshman Belinda Schaafsma (Momence, Ill.) grabbed a career high 10 boards and dished out a career best seven assists. Shaafsma contributed six points in the effort. Krysta Lewis (Woodstock, Ga.) was also in double-digits for the 'Cats with 11 points. The only Cougar in double-digits was Chatil Bradford with 13 off of the bench. Bradford pitched in seven rebounds.

The Bobcats shot .360 (18-50) from the floor and 8-of-11 (.727) from the free throw line. The 'Cats defense stymied Columbus State, shooting only 19-of-65 (.292) from the floor and 12-of-26 (.462) from the stripe. The Bobcats lost the rebounding effort 47-36 and the turnover battle 13-8.

The Bobcats continue their road trip at Flagler College (1-10, 0-5 PBC) Jan. 7 for a 1:30 p.m. tipoff.
