Box Score ANDERSON, S.C. – The Georgia College women's basketball team (4-3) got down early in the second half and could not come back, falling 79-67 to the Trojans of Anderson University (6-1) Saturday at the Abney Athletic Center.
Senior Shanteona Keys (Roswell, Georgia) led the way for the Bobcats with 19 points to go along with four rebounds, three steals and an assist. Classmate Enisha Donley (Loganville, Georgia) was just one point behind Keys and one rebound from posting a double-double. She finished with 18 points, nine rebounds and four steals. Senior Belinda Schaafsma (Momence, Illinois) also scored in double digits, netting 11 points while pulling down seven rebounds.
The Bobcats outshot the Trojans, 41 percent (24-58) to 40 (21-52), but Anderson made 13 three-point baskets, including eight from Leslie Woods. She finished with 30 points on 8-of-16 shooting. Georgia College was outrebounded 37-to-33 and had seven assists to Anderson's 14.
The game was close the entire first half with the Bobcats leading by eight at the 13:24 mark. Anderson closed the gap and took a four-point lead, but the Bobcats tied it up 32-32 at the break.
The second half started just the way the first half ended with a few lead changes before Anderson took the lead on a Woods three pointer with 15:55 on the clock. The Trojans would never look back and led the rest of the way. Their biggest lead was 19 at 79-60 before Georgia College went on a 7-0 run to end the game.
The Bobcats will be back in action Wednesday, Dec. 17 as they open Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play on the road against USC Aiken at 5:30 p.m.
