FORT VALLEY, Ga. – The Georgia College women's basketball team (4-2) battled back from a small three-point deficit at halftime to take a 64-58 victory at Fort Valley State University (1-9) Saturday at the HPE Arena.

"I thought our ladies did a great job overcoming some good runs by Fort Valley throughout the game," said head coach Maurice Smith. "It was a tough environment to play in and we are very thankful to come out with a victory."

After struggling for points in the first half, shooting just 31 percent, the Bobcats went on multiple runs in the second half primarily led by the seniors Shanteona Keys (Roswell), Enisha Donley (Loganville) and Belinda Schaafsma (Momence, Illinois).

Keys pounced on the Wildcats in the second half, ending the game with her first double-double of the season at 19 points and 10 rebounds. Keys' singular three-pointer for the game gives her 156 in her career, putting her one away from tying Allison Barry at No. 4 on the all-time list at Georgia College.

The Bobcats took the lead with 12 minutes left on the clock and never looked back. The biggest lead of the night was created by Schaafsma with 6:49 left in the game when she sank a jump shot to put the Bobcats up by 11. Schaafsma registered 11 points on the night going 5-of-6 from the free-throw line. Donley added 11 points of her own and was just two rebounds away from a double-double with eight.

The Bobcats will get back on the road Saturday, Dec. 13 as they go to South Carolina to take on Anderson University.
